Ranita has been put through every trial imaginable but at no time has she forgotten her dream. The dream of rebuilding the Glasswright's Guild in Morenia, the guild which was destroyed and banished because a few its member's were involved in the murder of the former king's eldest son. When Ranita receives an invite to come and be tested by what is left of the guild, which has fled to Brianta, it seems to good to be true. Afterall the remaining members of the guild blame her for its demise, not knowing that she was completely innocent in the prince's death.
Fantasy Series Book Review by Mulluane
But the privilege will come with a price so dear it could cost Ranita everybody she loves.
Then there are those who have their own stories and whose fate is tied into Ranita's. There is Tobin the player who is in love with her, there is Mair the Touched who has stood by her since the day she fled from the guild in fear of her life, there is King Hal who has depended on her to save both his kingdom, and his sanity and there is Berylina, the god touched princess who was intended to be King Hal's wife but the God's have claimed her for their own. And there is the Fellowship of Jair, a shadow organization that ruthlessly uses its members to its own ends.
This author amazes me with her skills. For one thing she manages to make each volume of this series completely unique by moving the story from country to country, introducing new cultures, religions, traditions and customs. She isn't afraid to present Ranita with impossible choices and have her fail, even as she succeeds. If nothing else these books show that nothing ever comes without a price even if you have the best intentions and that with strength and determination, you can endure life's heartaches. A valuable lesson at any age.
